Fashion trends are an unstoppable constant moving creature. When we are young our idea of fashion is based on a few colors, a little flare, does it move and flow. Early in life our identity is based on simple fashion . Remember that one nightgown we tried to wear every night cause we absolutely loved the fabric feel and the cartoon character on the front. . Or the tap shoes we loved how they sound, we tried to wear them everyday after school.
As we get older fashion becomes all about trends. Adulthood commences with fashion being all about trends. Who wears what? Where they were seen? Can i afford the look? Who else is rocking that look? Is there a less expensive way to accomplish the look?
Designers are well aware of the trend changes. They prepare themselves for trends the season before. Oddly enough, fashion design goes back decades, no centuries. Even early African tribes had fashion trends still adhered to this very day. Clearly, human beings have felt the need to have their appearance say something before their mouth speaks. The question remains what to do when you cant afford the trend? Or what if you just don't like the look of trends? Did men wearing saggy pants come before FUBU? Yes, thus many times trends can be influenced by consumers.
When did fashion stop being about personal identity. Ironically in the US trends for each season originate on the west or east coast and migrate inward. New seasons fashion may be seen in rural inner state communities yet are rarely seen being worn until one to two seasons later. As new trends take hold witness the actually reflection in the fashion economy.
